Breaking Ground on Treehouse Site 2

We are just a couple of weeks away from breaking ground on our second Treehouse site! I refer to it as a "Site" because this is going to be SPECIAL. We planned to construct our 2nd treehouse as a family cabin that would sleep 2 adults and up to 4 children. We've changed our mind and I believe we are opting for something EVEN BETTER!

We have decided to build a treehouse cabin "mini village" as a group site. This will be designed in a way to accomodate a large family, extended family, group of up to four families, a small family reunion or just a bunch of friends that want to share a cool treehouse experience. It will include 4 smaller cabins, one of which will be actually built right up in a tree. The other three will be elevated up into the trees just like Misty View treehouse. Each of them will sleep between 4 to 6 people with a total sleeping capacity for potentially 20 guests. It will be an entire site with the cabins clustered around a main covered picnic area, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, tree decks and other fun stuff we will save for later updates.

Our plan is that guests can rent as many of the four cabins as needed to accommodate the size of their family or group. Being a bit smaller, they will be more of a treehouse "camping cabin" design. This includes sleeping, watching TV with heat and A/C on the inside (and they'll be very nice). Yet they will be designed to make group activities outside the dominant experience.

We are currently working on the way they will look and we are leaning towards a very whimsical and playful appearance. I've been searching online to find something similar and so far haven't found anything close to what we are thinking (or sketching) SO...... if you can imagine something similar to the picture on this page, then you are getting close to our idea. Obviously if you've seen our Misty View treehouse at Branson Treehouse Adventures you know we have a handle on getting them done right.

Our projected completion date is end of March 2015 so it will be ready for Spring guests!

Treehouse Project Number 2

It's been a little over 2 months since we completed our first treehouse we called "Misty View". If you've been following us very closely, you know we have plans to build two more very soon.

Interrupt that thought!

YES, we do plan on building two more, but we had an AWESOME idea a couple of weeks ago that is JUST TOO COOL! We discovered a site we hadn't considered before and are shifting our construction attention to this new spot. It's going to be incredible and we plan on releasing more information on it in just a few days.

You won't want to miss this!

One Year of Treehouse Adventure

It was exactly one year ago that we began to build our business plan around the purchase of Acorn Acres RV Park and Campground. Our goal was to secure a suitable location for a Treehouse Cabin Resort. MANY times, it felt like the whole treehouse project was WAY out of reach.

One year later, we now have one treehouse built with many satisfied guests so far. Plans for 2 more on the drawing board and we plan to start construction soon.

In all of the busy purchase then construction schedule. I have personally had a hard time keeping up with the blog, website and social media postings. But now, I'm catching up. I invite you to go see our new websites and other media outlets. there are many pictures and lots of information on Branson Treehouse Adventures.

Treehouse One is DONE!

tree house

Today is the completion milestone for the Misty View Treehouse. It was almost exactly one year ago that we first looked at the property for a potential tree house resort. About 3 months ago when we bought it and started our first cabin and we figured up that we have about 8 weeks of actual working time on it. Our open house was today. It will continue tomorrow and then our first guest will be arriving on Monday!

While we are excited to get this first treehouse  cabin completed, it is only the first step in the bigger picture of what we are planning. The next one will be a family treehouse that will sleep two adults and up to four children. It will definitely have more of an adventure theme.

Between now and the start of the next cabin, we will be building another coffee deck in one of the big trees in the campground. It will be accessible to all of the campers in the campground. (where the treehouses have their own private coffee decks.)

Ultimately, our plans are to construct a resort that has destination appeal of it's own with nearby Branson area attractions being "icing on the cake" As we go into the fall and winter, we plan to improve the children's playground area and update it with treehouse themed features. We also plan to construct a canopy walk network in the trees with connecting cable bridges and platforms.

Our goal is to create a guest experience that will be remembered for decades.

We hope you will follow our progress and come and visit us at Branson Tree House Adventures.

What Does Coffee and a Big Screw have in Common?

So just exactly what does a big screw have to do with coffee?

Well let me tell you!

Our Tree Houses will all have "Coffee Trees" attached!

Let me explain further!

In an attempt to make our tree house cabins as unique and memorable of an experience as possible, we've invented "Coffee Trees". Our coffee trees are simply a nearby tree situated close to the back deck of the cabins with a private deck built right into them. These decks will be actually in the tree and connected to the back deck of the tree house via a cable suspension bridge.

HOW COOL IS THAT!!!???

The idea is to have access to a private "in the tree" experience that feeds into our theme of tree houses and canopy walks. (Canopy walks you ask?) That will be another posting!

Meanwhile, we will begin construction of our first coffee deck tomorrow. John hasn't exactly volunteered for coffee deck duty, but I've already laid claim to test driving it so his job will be to build it! I have confidence he will get the job done. (Just look at the size of bolts he got for it!)

I'll make sure to shoot plenty of video of this part of the project so watch for it!

Back to reservations. All of our pre-construction nights are sold but we are offering all first time guests $20 off PER NIGHT. All you have to do is fill out the form to the right of this page and you will receive an email with a promotional code in it you can use to get your discount when you make your reservations.

We are updating our website now too at: www.bransontreehouseadventures.com

A Video Update from Branson Tree House Adventures!

Here we are about 2-3 weeks away from completion of the Misty View Tree House. We have pretty much got the outside done. John is getting ready to build the coffee deck out back and I'm getting ready to start building cabinets.

It was about one year ago that we began thinking about building a tree house resort. Now we are almost done with our first cabin and excited to get the next one going.

We love it when we have visitors stop by and check out the progress. Building a tree house cabin is so unconventional. Part of the fun and adventure is that there are no typical design boundaries. This allows us to "make it up as we go". Any time we get a new idea, we don't have to decide "can we do that?" We only have to decide if we want to or not and if it will make the tree house experience more unique and memorable. Everyone should enjoy this kind of project!

If you want to receive a discounted special for your stay at our tree house, submit your name and email at the right and you will receive a message with a promotional code in it to use when you make your reservations!

The Tree House Project

We are getting SO CLOSE to having a functional Tree House Cabin! As of August 20, the exterior is about 98% complete and we have a good start on the interior.

Today we finally removed the scaffolding on the front deck so the "face" is now unobstructed!

We have ordered the whirlpool tub for 2 that will go in the side room. It will be here in a few days and all of the electrical and plumbing is done.

I suppose I should clarify one more time (because people keep asking if it will have a bathroom and running water) YES, hot and cold running water, bathroom, shower, jetted tub, flat screen TV, kitchen, heat and A/C..........Is there anything I'm missing? Oh yes, a deck out back that is over 20 feet above the ground and a coffee deck in a near-by tree connected by a cable bridge!

This Tree House Cabin will be very luxurious! We are give as much attention to detail as we can and still keep the construction dead-line intact!

Now For Some MORE Good News!

If you look to the right of this page, you will see a new form which gives you $20 off per night. It is SO SIMPLE!

Just submit your name and email address and you will instantly receive a message with a $20 off "Per Night" coupon! Good for ALL first time guests.

I plan to shoot a couple of new videos by this weekend and show off the progress in the interior.

See you in the Trees!

Tree House Milestone

We are now two weeks into August and we've reached a milestone. Namely, our first inspection. Which we passed with flying colors. It was the utilities rough-in inspection that now opens the door for starting the finish work on the inside.

While we have been busy getting it to this point on the inside (and under side), Shelley has been busy putting on the make-up in the form of color. We've chosen a darker "butternut" stain for the exterior walls with a lighter accent color on the front deck ceiling, cedar logs and deck rails. The color combination is awesome to look at, and, like every other part of this project....The pictures just don't do it justice!

We've opted to make this cabin a romantic, couples cabin with a jetted tub. It was about a 50/50 split for couples vs family cabin, but the couples won out as they are the ones who have been calling in and making reservations. Family cabin is up next!

REDUCED PRICE OFFER

Now, down to our "Reduced Price Offer". We have filled most of September and part of October with our Pre-Completion pricing. We offered a limited number of nights to be reserved at $100 that can be used any time (subject to availability) And those have nearly been used up. We've decided to accept only 10 MORE! If you want to reserve your cabin ad this low price, you must do it before 10 more nights are booked!

Higher and Higher

Every time we go out to work at the tree house it seems we are modifying some kind of platform to get ourselves higher in the air. Today it was adding some ladders, scaffold platforms and other odds and ends makeshift methods for getting us up the back side of the tree house to finish the outside walls. The ladder you see in the first pic is already standing about 20 feet in the air on the back deck. The temporary platform John is on is higher, BUT, now we can reach the peak.

The second picture is one I took from the ground and it still does not give the perspective of height that is really there. You just have to come and see it!

This project has come a long way in the short time we've actually been working on it. I think we are up to 24 days now. Even though this is our business (or at least one of them) we have a great time doing the work. allowing ourselves to be creative with very few boundaries. (gravity being one of them) We get to meet people who are fascinated by what they see when we give them a mini-tour.

All in all, this is turning into a wonderful experience for us as well as others. You are all invited to stop by and see the progress, We will always take a few minutes to visit and share the vision. PLUS, as of today (August 6) we still have a few discounted pre-construction reservations available at $100. You must call soon if you want to get one. You can use them at any time in the future but there are only a limited number of nights available. When they're gone, the price will be the normal price of $189 per night. Call 417-338-2500 between 9am and 5pm to make your reservations.

Tree House Magic

Our tree house site sits at the edge of an RV Park near several other guest cabins. It's down over the hill and in the woods a bit from all the camp area and feels very secluded, especially when you get out where the back deck will be. Still, with the construction going on it's hard to miss and we do get a fairly steady stream of curious on-lookers throughout the day.

It's fascinating to see the reaction of our "tree house tourists". We places yellow caution tape around the whole project to keep kids away when we weren't around. SO far the kids haven't been the problem. The retiree's are the ones sneaking out on the platform when no one's looking. LOL! Mostly it's safe enough. We've barricaded most of the drop offs and have most of the hand-rails at least partially done.

What's so funny about that is just how many of the seniors group are finding our project so fascinating. They get a sparkle in their eye and a big grin as they cross the "bouncy" bridge and look out the picture window opening to the woods. They all have to feel the big cedar posts on the front deck and talk about the smell of cedar and pine inside.

Quite a number of the men are retired builders and check out the craftsmanship and reminisce about their construction days. The women can't wait to cross the swinging cable bridge out to the coffee tree platform.

Who says tree houses are for kids!? Something about this project is giving life to generations old and young. It's a magical experience just seeing the expressions from our little tour groups. A seventy something lady took our tour the other day then exclaimed: "I'm leaving because you need to get back to work and get this done so I can come and stay in it!"

We aren't even done with our first one and you know what?..........It's already worth it!

The Height Issue

I have to laugh a little about this posting. From the very beginning, we have been looking forward to getting pictures of us way up in the air working on the tree house. Well tomorrow is the day! We will begin roofing our tree house tomorrow and there is only a couple of problems with that.

1. The pitch is too steep to stand on.
2. Neither of us like heights.

Why did we decide this was a good idea? Oh yeah. It's a cool tree house!

The pictures we've posted so far don't really display the height very well. At the beginning of the bridge the tree house is ground level. At the front deck, it's about 10 feet above the ground. At the back door, the floor is about 15 feet above the ground and in the coffee tree we will be about 20 feet above the ground. The roof on the other hand is 19 feet above the ground at the closest point and close to 30 feet above ground at the highest peak.

As numbers go, that just doesn't mean too much. When you find yourself hanging out over the roof peak with shingles in one hand and a nail gun in the other while hanging on with your toes, it's something quite different.

We will get some pictures and maybe a video. Just no close ups to show how terrified we are. LOL (maybe)

We begin taking advanced reservations on Monday, July 21 for dates in September and beyond. We are offering very limited discounted advanced reservation rates of $100 per night while we are completing construction. Once they are gone, the price will be $189.

16 Day Construction Update

http://www.bransontreehouseadventures.com/
We are now 16 days into construction of our first Tree House Cabin at Branson Tree House Adventures. It has reached the point where guests up in the campground cannot resist stopping by for a closer look. Some days we spend more time giving tours than we do working! One of the exciting parts about a project like this is that the plan has the flexibility of change. This has given us the flexibility to alter our design as the construction progresses an as we see opportunities for improvement.

As of now, we have been building this cabin with families in mind. Meaning that the side room would contain bunks for children. However, we seem to be getting more calls from guests requesting a more romantic "Cabin for Two". As of this moment, we can still go either way, but we will have to make the decision this coming week which way to proceed.

Our completion date is still set for September 1, 2014. This gives us a 42 day count-down to our finish line. If you would like to reserve this cabin for dates in September and beyond, you may contact us at 417-338-2500. This is the main office number to the campground and RV park, and it is where we will process all of the tree house reservations as well.

You may visit our Branson Tree House Adventures website (which is also under construction.....but usable) for more information and updates.

Misty View Taking Shape

As promised, we are increasing the updates, because our tree house is really starting to shape up. We've selected the name "Misty View" for this tree house due to the hazy mist that seems to hang in the trees in the early morning. The photo to the right was the construction progress as of day 12 of construction. The photo below was taken on day 13. We have now completed the framing and will be doing the roof this coming week.  Before that though, we have pulled a couple of trees in for duty that were removed from the power line clearing up by the entrance of the park. We have prepped them for the front roof support columns that will sit out on the deck.

This tree house features a 30 foot long suspension bridge with some nice "bounce" to it. We have an arched window for the gable, and a front and back deck. We may add a lower deck under the tree house with some amenities.

We've decided to begin taking reservations very soon and our completion date is still on target for the end of August. If you are thinking of being one of our first guests, make sure to subscribe to our tree house news to the right of the page.

See you in the Trees!

Sunset over the Tree House Site

We've been working at the tree house site for eight days. Most of it so far has been while clinging to beams and attaching support structure. This is the last picture there will be before we start the walls and roof. The front is not as high as the back from the ground. We are building on a slope that makes the front deck about nine feet off the ground where the back deck is close to twenty feet above the ground.

The bridge leading out to the tree house is level and has about three inches of "bounce" in it. So far we have one tree up through the front deck. It looks like there will be three trees extending through the back deck.

This project is about ready to start taking shape and the design features we've been toying around with are about to start showing.  We still project the completion date to be around mid to late August. We've already begun stocking materials for Tree House 2!

FREE NIGHT CONTEST

Yes, we have a FREE Night Contest going on right now!  We are looking for a creative slogan for the tree house resort. Dirt and Sparks are Flying

Today we made more progress....at least until our afternoon rain delay! We are still digging, leveling and getting posts in the ground. We've been ma- handling about 400 pound 6" steel posts into the ground.

I took a couple videos today of the hole drilling and some post cutting. It will be good to get out of the dirt and into the trees.

So far I have not found a good vantage point to get a good photo of the height of the platform. Its surprisingly high. Even though our bridge to the from deck will be a nice level walk, the slope of the hill creates about 18 feet of height at the back deck.

We are currently conducting a Sleep Free in a Tree Contest where we are asking for our followers to submit clever slogans for our tree house resort. If you think you have a Great slogan for us to use, just submit it here or on our facebook page at: Branson Tree House Adventures.

Today The SERIOUS Work began

I'm not sure what we will consider to be our actual first day of work since we've been messing around out in the trees for almost a week now. BUT. Today we kicked it up a notch, so we may have to call June 24th the first real tree house work day.

Our project begins with clearing out just enough space to get some support posts in place. These will become the base structure that will enable us to get the height we are after in a safe way. They are steel and must be anchored deep in the ground. That starts with drilling a big hole (or several of them!)

The ground here is so rocky that we have to clear the holes out occasionally before we proceed any further. As tough as the equipment is, it's been challenged a time or two already.

John's not afraid to get into the dirt. (Good thing he's younger and more agile than me) I think he was fishing a big rock out of that hole. The hillsides have been a little bit of a challenge for the equipment too. He said that everything keeps wanting to roll downhill as he's drilling.

Alex has been a huge help. (Even younger and more agile than John or me.) He's been getting in on all of the action. including dragging the 400 lb posts down the hill and helping get them stood upright.

The last step for each post is getting them set in concrete. Oddly enough that's been the easiest job so far.

Today I was asked if there would be electricity in the tree houses. There will be electricity, heat and A/C, hot and cold running water, a kitchen, a bathroom and flat screen TV with satellite. No lack of amenities here!

One of our unique features will be off the back deck. (Do I leak the secret out now????? Why not!) We plan to build a bridge of the back of each deck out to a sitting platform in a nearby tree for what we call the "Coffee Deck". It will be a private sitting area for just your tree house. We think that will be one of the more popular features of our tree houses.

Of course we intend to have some with Jacuzzi tubs, fireplaces and outdoor showers. Hmmmmmmmm, not too sure about that last one. We understand that it's the most popular feature in other tree house resorts.

If you want to follow along with the progress, I STRONGLY recommend that you subscribe to our tree house news using the form to the right of the page. It will keep you up-to-date on EVERYTHING we are doing!

Go to our facebook page and "Like" it at: Branson Tree House Adventures

Our Campground website: www.acornacrescampground.com (also under construction)

Share this with your friends. Let them know that we plan to have our first tree house complete by the end of August.

And if you are one of the ones who just can't wait to see the process first hand. Our cabin number 70 has a front row seat to the construction from it's back deck. So if you want to watch the action from the comfort of your private viewing area, call 1-800-3382504 and tell them you want Cabin 70 so you can watch the Tree House being built!

The Work Begins

Today we began digging around the first tree house site mainly looking for the utilities that are buried at one of the tent camp sites at Acorn Acres Campground. So far we have only had a few hours a day to deal with tree house sites, but tomorrow, we will be able to spend a little more time actually getting the site ready to build.

The picture on the right was taken from the parking platform at tree house site 1. We've been able to determine that the floor of our first tree house will be about 13 feet in the air. That's kind of exciting. It's a little higher than I was expecting, but it's a height that will keep the floor of the tree house level with the parking platform. Our first cabin will be a family friendly cabin sleeping 2 adults and up to 3 kids. The picture on the right will be the view from the back deck.

Our tree house project is going to be the realization of a 15 year dream. Shelley and I visited a tree house resort that long ago and have talked about it since then. Even though this is the culmination of years of thinking and planning, we know the results of our work will not be for our enjoyment alone. We are every bit as excited to see the reaction of our guests as they find some fulfillment of the tree house adventure dreams of their own.

We look forward to the input and suggestions offered to us by others. Don't be afraid to send us pictures of ideas you think would work in a tree house. Pin them on our facebook page at: Branson Tree House Adventures. ALSO, We are running a new "Free Night in a Tree" contest.

Here's what we are up to. We need a good slogan for our resort. We are asking you to submit your creative slogans to the facebook link above or even here on the blog. Get your thinking cap on!

We are FINALLY in the Trees!

I've promised to begin adding information about our tree house construction and while I've been accumulating material, I've had very little time to get it published. But things are moving forward.

It's a bit funny. We have been so focused on getting our tree house property purchased that we almost failed to remember that we were also taking on a large RV Park and campground business right in the middle of the busy season. AND
Both the Brewers and the Teigs have our own businesses separate from the tree house resort to keep going as well. NO EXCUSES. but it has been a frantic couple of weeks. ( I guess it's better to have too much to do than looking around for something to do! SO anyway, now that the campground / RV Park is mostly under control, (thanks to some really good staff) we are "In The TREES!"

A couple days ago we started locating the utilities we will be bringing into the site of our first tree house. We shot a laser level from the parking area back to the trees and discovered our first tree house will be about 13 feet in the air in front and about 18 feet in the back. HOW COOL IS THAT!

We will be building decks on the front and the back. OH and by the way. YES.......they will have running water. That seems to be the predominant concern we are hearing. After all this time. (8 months to be exact) it's exciting to actually be finally into the first stages of construction.

Ground Breaking and Advanced Discounted Reservations!

SO, HERE WE GO!

Today, John ( who is fearlessly pictured to the right with tree climbing gear) trekked to the back of the property and took a few pictures along the way. Tomorrow we will bring in equipment to break ground for the first tree house.  (watch for videos)

We are also ready to announce our "discounted" advanced reservation details. We have wanted to do this for months but were a little hesitant because of the delays we were experiencing getting the place bought in the first place.

Now that its done, we are fairly confident in our construction time line.

SO, As promised, we will be releasing the details to our subscriber list FIRST. If you are not a subscriber to our email news and updates, you can do that right now with the small form on the right of this page.

Oh, by the way. How's that for a cool pic on the left? We will have a hiking trail back to this spot at some point!

Anyway, back to the reservations.

If you have not subscribed, DO SO NOW at the form to the right of the page. You will receive an email tomorrow morning with detail of how to be among the first to Sleep In A Tree!

The fun is about to begin!

I will let you in on one little secret......

We will be limiting the number of nights available at the discounted rate. You DO NOT want to miss the information.

The Big Adventure Begins

So here is the story. We have kept the location and plans pretty much a secret for the past 8 months while we negotiated, re-negotiated, strategized and wrote and re-wrote business plans and bank proposals. Today at 10am we finally made it to the closing table and completed the purchase of what will become our tree house resort!

What we have been working on is the purchase of a 45 acre campground and RV park. The facility has 79 RV camp sites and 6 beautiful cabins. Along with a screened in pavilion that accommodates about 100 people, a pool, game room, laundry, small store and gift shop, shower houses, playground and all the amenities you would expect at a very nice campground.

The Campground and RV Park occupy about 13 acres right on the flat crest of the property. The rest is made up of sloping hillsides covered with Ozark hardwood forest. This leaves about 32 acres for us to select tree house sites and build.

While strolling around the property, you can hear the steam train whistle from Silver Dollar City on the next hill over. White squirrels run around in the trees and under growth. (I tried getting a video of one today but he got up into the trees too quick for me) all in all the park is a well kept and very comfortable property.

We spent some time today doing a little surveying and have already ordered the structural material to start on the first tree house. I am excited to get this thing underway. We spoke to one of the staff members of the camp today after we laid out our vision for the property. He's a retired gentleman (that is actually in the photo to the right by the pool) He responded, "I haven't been this excited in 20 years!" .............. That's special!

The campground is Acorn Acres and we will keep that identity as we are building the Branson Tree House Adventures identity. I believe the two will go together just fine. You can book campsites and cabins RIGHT NOW! Call them in or reserve them on-line.

As far as the Tree Houses...........We start construction this weekend. Our target completion date is early August. Just 2 months from now.

I'll be posting information on making advanced reservations within a few days! I'll be throwing a couple of videos out on facebook later too. You can see them at our Branson Tree House Adventures page.

One Final Day of Waiting

Its been eight months ago today (back on October 1, 2013) that we took our first tour of the property that will become the Tree House Resort. After eight full month, we are now only one day away from the reality of owning one of the best properties in one of the best locations in the Branson Entertainment region.

This project has been in our minds for over 15 years. It became a little more serious three years ago when we started purchasing vacation properties. The final nudge over the edge took place last summer when meeting with good friends and business partners John and Shannon. I consider them some of the best "big dreamers" I have ever met. After discussing the possibility, our response was, "Why not us?"

Tomorrow, all of the dreaming, planning, brain storming and preparation will become reality. We are so excited to announce our location and plans. Starting tomorrow, we will begin to release the information we have been teasing you with for the last four months.

Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a wonderful adventure.

SEE YOU IN THE TREES!

Just over 2 days Left!

We are really beginning to get close to construction. Already starting to order up the specialty materials so it will be here next week....HOW AWESOME IS THAT!

We are deciding on exterior and interior finishes, themes and details right now. The picture to the right has some beautiful design themes. I especially like the bunk in the bay.

I will be posting pretty frequently now that we are getting so close.

As soon as we start construction I'll be filming videos of the process. Fasten your seat belts. We are getting ready for a great ride!

May 29 Tree House Update

Here it is, May 29 and we are 4 days away from owning the Tree House property. By the time we close on Monday, we will have been working this project for eight full months. A long time to wait and work just to get to the starting line! But, it's almost upon us now.

Last fall, John and I were standing out at the property looking out over the trees. Yesterday, we hiked a portion of the trails and were seeing just where we could add some observation decks and possibly even a suspension bridge.

Four days from today, We will finally disclose the exact location of our tree house resort. It will be the culmination of months of effort.

Three days from today (June 1st) we will be selecting a winner of our Free Night in a Tree drawing. If you have subscribed to our email updates (to the right) or registered for the free night give away (also to the right) you are eligible for the drawing. If you have not, now is the time to get it done.

One final thing. We wanted to begin taking advanced reservations last month but just didn't want to set a completion date since we were experiencing delays in the acquisition of the property. I believe we will announce our construction timeline next week and begin taking advanced reservation then.

If you are one of the ones who have requested reservations already, make sure to watch for that announcement.

See you in the Trees!

OKAY....This is Just TOO COOL!

I just saw this posted to my facebook timeline and I think we have found the direction we are going to take the playground at the Tree House Resort!

WOW!

There is a playground there now (very close to the pool, which is open now too!) But it just doesn't have the same feel as the tree house project will need.

I think this will do the job!

We are now less than 2 weeks from closing on the property and were out on the property today starting to get a fix on our plan of attack.

DON'T FORGET to sign up to win a FREE NIGHT in a Tree House on the form to the right of this page. We are getting VERY CLOSE to getting this deal going!

May 4 Tree House Update

Hi everyone. It is May 4th and I wanted to get everyone up to date. In case you missed it, we had planned a closing on the property in 3 days. That got delayed due to just too many business transition issues. We are now scheduled for June 2 and are planning to start construction immediately upon possession of the property.

More importantly for now is that we are getting calls for reservations already. We do plan to begin taking advanced reservations as soon as we feel confident we can meet the construction deadline. ALSO we will be announcing a discounted advanced reservation program that will be in effect during construction. THE BEST WAY TO KEEP TRACK........is to register at either form to the right of the page! (If you are reading this on your phone, you may need to click "view web version".

We've decided to raise the stakes on the Free Night Give-away! Tomorrow (May 1) we will be drawing a winner for a Free Night in a tree house. We have been to the Tree House property today and decided there are too many complex business transitions to make to get the purchase finalized next week. We have decided to push the closing to June 1. NO ONE is more disappointed than we are, But.....It's only 3 additional weeks! I guess we can live with that.

If you are registered by noon tomorrow that is. If you register after tomorrow you will miss the May 1 drawing! SO DO IT NOW at the right of this page.

NEXT BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!........Starting Friday, we will begin taking advanced reservations at a HUGE DISCOUNT. Our construction schedule will see our first two tree houses completed by September. Possibly August, but we are making September 1 our "Absolutely Has To Be Done" date.

Living Life Like A Kid Again!

I have to admit that the closer we get to the tree house resort the more I am feeling like a kid. I guess that's a good thing. Today we were actually able to set a closing date on the property and yesterday we met with our partners and discussed some of the preliminary plans we have for the property as soon as we take ownership.

I found it amusing that four adults could be sitting at the table getting all giddy over all of the cool "tree house" features, events and activities we were dreaming of and planning. With room for up to 50 tree houses there is plenty of opportunity for themes, design features and events.

TWO of the immediate opportunities are within reach. As of the writing of this post, we are 9 days away from closing on the property.

1. We are drawing for the winner of the FREE NIGHT (weekend) on May 1. MAKE SURE to register using the form on the right. No Obligation, just fill in your name and email.

2. We will begin offering a reduced price "Advanced Reservation" program Also starting May 1. The offer will be first come first served at roughly 1/2 the normal price during construction of the first 2 Tree Houses. We are planning a family one and a romantic one, you can take your pick and choose your dates. This offer will go out to our subscriber list first! Make sure you are on it!

Notices, and blog posts will be coming almost every day starting right now. Get ready for your Adventure in the Trees!

WHAT.......Me Worry?

I'm not normally the type that gets very nervous when a process drags out for very long. After 7 months of work though, there were times I wondered if we would ever get this deal done! It's been remarkably smooth, but also remarkably tedious.

Today we received word that the final "serious" hurdle had been overcome. The appraisal had to support the purchase price and we learned today that it had.

Now, on to just making sure all of the mountains of paper work are in order then schedule a closing date.

With all of the potential "deal killers" behind us now, I have the confidence to start getting ready to make advanced reservations. Most of the other similar facilities we know of have 3-6 month waiting lists for Tree House cabin reservations. During construction, we plan to offer discounted reservations on a first come first serve basis.

Those who are following our progress through our subscription service will have first shot at the advanced reservations. If you have NOT subscribed, now is the best time to do it at the right of this page. PLUS....This will also make you eligible to win the FREE NIGHT we will be giving away on May 1 (It will probably be a FREE WEEKEND!)

Get subscribed and watch for updates. They're going to start coming fast!

HELP!!!!

I need your help!

REALLY, I NEED YOUR HELP!

We are getting very close to finalizing the purchase of our tree house resort property. I'm still thinking that we'll have it done by May 1st.

We plan to construct two tree houses immediately. We are going to do one that will sleep 2 adults and up to 3 kids. The other one will be more secluded, romantic and designed with couples in mind. It will have Jacuzzi tub, fire place and private out-door amenities.

Our Problem................. Which should we do first. We expect that one will be completed about 3-4 weeks ahead of the other. I want to know which one to build first. So.......I'm asking for your help.

Should we build the family one or the romantic one first. HERE'S YOUR CHANCE to let me know what you think! Place your response in the comment box on this page!

REMEMBER, we will be drawing for a FREE Night in a Tree on May 1st. TO be eligible, you MUST fill out the simple form to the right of this page.

Tree House Resort Update

I get asked every day how the Tree House project is coming along. As of right now it is still progressing. I have a high level of confidence we will be on the property very close to May 1. We are only waiting for the real estate appraisal to be completed and then work out any final details..........then set a closing date.

The process has been a long one for sure, but it's also fairly large and just includes a lot of steps. We have been accumulating building materials for the start of construction so nothing should stand in our way from the first day we set foot on the property. We are even trying to figure out how to possible do some kind of event to kick the whole thing off. (Any ideas will be welcome)

The pictures we've been posting are just ideas and are not our tree houses. We hope you will look them over and provide some input as to what you find attractive in the pictures in the various blog posts here. We know what we like, but our guests are the ones who will be "Sleeping in the Trees". So go ahead. tell us what you want to see.

PLUS......We are keeping one feature completely secret as of right now. It will be an awesome surprise! (You'll just have to wait on it!)

Meanwhile. Don't forget to register to win a "FREE Night in a Tree" by filling out the registration form to the right of the page! We will draw a winner on May 1st so get your name in and get your family and friends in.

Getting a Bargain!

We are EXTREMELY excited to begin construction of our first few Tree Houses. In fact we have already stored up supplies and materials for when we start. We have created some amazing and fun floor plans and designs. We also know there will be a lot of demand from the beginning (we are already receiving the "Me First" calls and messages)

We are planning to reward our first group of future guests with a awesome 1/2 price deal once construction begins. The discount package will begin the day we start construction and will be limited to the first 40 guests only. Reservation dates will granted on a 1st come basis. We will announce this deal to our subscribers first, then to our social media contacts and then on the websites. ALL THE MORE REASON to make sure you are on the email subscriber list (fill out one of the forms to the right of this page)

You can also follow our project boards on Pinterest at: Tree House Board and at Project Ideas.

Oh, by the way. If you are a Hobbit fan, we have a surprise that we are going to keep secret until we are under way with the tree houses.

Round House

The tree house resort we are getting ready to start will be have a combination of different styles of tree house. We believe there will be three kinds of guests coming to visit. Some of the units will cater to families with kids looking for fun and adventurous experience. There will also be the "Romantic Get-Away" couples. The third group will be simply adventure seekers who want the experience of camping out in the trees.

Whatever attracts you to the tree house experience, we intend to make your stay with us very unique and memorable. If you are reading this posting, We would love to know you thoughts. What guest type are you? What is the "key" experience you are looking for? Is there a design element you would like to see? What about other amenities? we already have a pool and a playground area for kids. What else is important?

Please take a moment if you can and include some of your thoughts in the comment section below. Plus, don't forget to fill out the "Sleep Free in a Tree" drawing at the right of this page.

Dreams To Reality

Today is Sunday, February 16. Today the dream took the first step of reality. While there are still details to work out, today we actually have a signed contract. What began as simply a dream (perhaps just a fantasy) nearly 3 years ago has now developed into an actual vision and then a business plan and now only mere steps away from reality.

I've referred to this process as one of pushing the boulder up a big hill an inch or two at a time. Today, I feel comfortable that we have done everything in our power to make this dream a reality. Now it's in the hands of other capable people to finish up the details.

Today we toured the property with a new sense of commitment and enthusiasm. Today we looked at the trees as if to say; "Ready or not...Here We Come!"

Here's a picture of John and I looking out at the trees. (My wife was sneaking up on us to get this shot). We are standing on a 10 foot ledge looking out into the nearby canopy and at all of the possibilities.

The Designs

Just to be clear, the pictures you see on this blog (at least for now) are just various pictures we have found on-line that represent some very cool ideas involving tree house design. Many of the designs and floor plans contain elements we will most certainly use when we start construction of our tree houses.

So when do we plan to start? Well, it looks like around May 1, 2013. We are still in the acquisition stage of our project and it looks like we will be "on property" in about a month and a half.

For now, we are gathering ideas and making plans for construction. Two of the purposes of this blog are to start generating some interest in our project and to gather ideas from our "future" guests. We would LOVE to know what you think are the BEST features of tree house cabins! For this reason, we ask you to provide feedback and suggestions in the comment section below.

ALSO........DON'T FORGET........We will be drawing a name from the our subscriber list on MAY 1st to select a winner of the "Sleep Free in a Tree" drawing. If you haven't entered, you can do so on the right side of this page!

Until Later,

See You In The Trees!

Use of Natural Materials

I like the deck and stairway railings on this tree house. I've been seeing a lot of tree limbs used as railings. When we start or project, we've already agreed that we want to use as much natural material as we can. I think it helps add to the rustic charm of a tree house.

Sleep FREE in a TREE

I just left a meeting with our "tree house partners" and have approval to offer a FREE NIGHT in a Tree house. As a celebration to the start of this project, we will be drawing for a FREE NIGHT (and possibly a FREE WEEKEND) in one of our first 2 tree houses.

The first two tree houses will consist of one "romantic couple retreat" and the other will be a "family fun" tree house. The winner will be able to choose which tree house they would like to use for their FREE NIGHT.

The romantic one will include Jacuzzi Tub for 2 and a quiet wooded setting away from some of the other amenities like the pool and playground.

The family fun tree house will sleep 2 adults and up to 3 children. It will be close to the pool and playground for easy access to fun!

HERE'S HOW TO QUALIFY!!!

At the side of the page is a sign up form where you must enter your name and email address!

It's that simple! we will draw a name from our subscriber list on May 1st.
