The Owl Roost - New Treehouse

Greetings from the trees (once again), this time from the "nearly completed" Owl Roost! The newest treehouse nearing completion at Branson Treehouse Adventures. The Owl Roost is a family style treehouse that has a private adult bedroom with a sleeping loft to handle all the kids. Inspired as a "Barn" themed cabin, it has features that will make you feel that you've stepped into a rustic treasure when you visit.

We decided to measure the over all height one day while the guys were working on the roof. From the highest point of the roof to the ground at the lowest point of the cabin was forty two feet. We decided there was enough room to build a lower deck under the treehouse. That deck cantilevers out over the ground adding to the outdoor space in a unique way.

The Owl Roost has a full bathroom with shower, a full kitchen with stove sink and refrigerator. It has a fireplace, heat and air, TV with cable and enough interesting character to create wonderful memories that will last for years to come.

Probably one of the most unique features is hidden inside our silo. While it's still incomplete as of the writing of this post, this is our stairway to the loft. We have installed a large tree trunk up the middle with a spiral stairway around it.

Introducing Belle Arbres

Belle Arbres is the name of our most recent treehouse cabin at Branson Treehouse Adventures. Belle Arbres means "Beautiful Trees" and I can't think of a more appropriate name.

This treehouse cabin is our second "ultra-luxury" cabin and our fifth total. It includes a kitchenette, bathroom with oversized shower, queen bed, jetted tub for 2, fireplace, flat screen TV, outdoor shower on the back deck, coffee deck in a nearby tree accessed by a swinging cable bridge, sitting area deck at the back of the cabin and numerous inter and exterior features that just set a perfect mood for sleeping among the trees.

You can reserve a stay at Belle Arbres by going to our Treehouse website and booking on-line, or you can call our office at 417-338-2500.

What's in a Name?

What exactly goes in to naming a treehouse cabin? You may think it's just a random stab at something interesting, catchy or trendy. (We may resort to that at some point) but for now, we are doing our best to have the name fit the cabin. With that said, I thought I would give a bit of a back-story to our other treehouses and how they got their names.

Misty View
Misty View was our first treehouse cabin constructed in 2014, We started it in mid-June and completed it in late September. As we went out to work on it each day, we noticed that we were greeted most mornings with a misty haze out in the woods. Each day we would stand there, coffee (or Dr. Pepper) in hand marveling at the beauty that surrounded us. The name "Misty View" was a natural fit for our first cabin.

Below is a picture of one recent morning when the haze was settled in around the cabin. You will have to agree that sitting in the tree deck behind the cabin is a special experience on days like this!

Misty View
Our Second cabin (or shall I say - group of cabins) is Ben's Hide Away! Ben's cabins were built to answer the MANY requests we received to build a treehouse that could accommodate a large family or group. Like 12 or 18. We could not see ourselves building something that big. (Much less try to engineer something like that) So we opted for a group treehouse cabin site instead. Our solution was to clear a large site and build three cabins that sleep up to 15 with a on-site outdoor kitchen, private bathroom on site and a covered picnic table area. In addition, the site as it's own fire pit and barbecue/smoker.

Ben's Hide Away
Ben's Hide Away has a very unique story behind it. One of our valued employees and housekeeper, Susan, was looking for a way to invest of herself into the treehouse project. We decided to allow her to fund the construction of the site in exchange for an on-going royalty off the rental income from the site.

Our plan was to keep the name secret until the final unveiling of the site. Susan's son Ben has downs syndrome and is a very pleasant young man living on a working cattle ranch in Montana. He loves the outdoors and we couldn't think of a better and more fitting tribute to Susan and Ben than to name this particular treehouse after him.

Site 68
Now, it's on to "Site 68". our most recent project that is progressing very rapidly. It doesn't look like much yet, BUT neither did the other ones at this stage!

We are conducting a "Name the Treehouse" contest and giving away a FREE NIGHT in "Old Number 68" to the person with the winning entry! hmmmmmmm, Old Number 68...... that actually does have  a bit of a ring to it after all. NO...we need something better!

Go to the following link to see how to become eligible and how to submit your name selections! Contest Rules

Treehouse building is fun, exciting and challenging. I think that naming the treehouses is the most difficult part. Thanks so much for jumping in to the process and helping us give these cabins wonderful and special names.

Our One Year Anniversary In The Trees!

One year ago today, Shelley and myself along with our partners John and Shannon Brewer walked into a closing company and purchased a Branson area campground with visions of treehouses in mind. This came after almost exactly eight months of planning and negotiating, arm twisting and convincing banks that a treehouse resort would be a worth-while venture. Imagine that, grown adults wanting to build treehouses! Well.....Why not!

Without revisiting the steps it took to get here, (You can browse back through the blog to see all that) I wanted to simply do an over-view of our experience so far. Ironically, the very first challenge we encountered was the realization that we had to learn how to run a campground. You would think that we would have thought about that. After all, we were buying a campground! But no. We were prepared to break ground the very first day on our first cabin. That got delayed by about a month while we got a crash course in Camp Management 101. Fortunately, there were good staff in place who made our learning curve tolerable!

Next obstacle was the various lift pump failures, pressure pump failures, tractor breakdowns, mower breakdowns, (I'll spare you the pictures of the lift pump repairs) Anyway, by July, we finally had broken ground on the first treehouse cabin. We named it Misty View for all of the hazy mist hanging in the woods in the mornings when we went to work on it. It became our romantic couples cabin and has been impressing guests from it's first day.

We took a bit of a break through the fall and prepared for our next project. While we built Misty View, we gave tour after tour to camp guest. A large percentage of them wanted to be able to bring their family members with them to experience "Sleeping in the Trees".  That lead us to develop the idea of a group treehouse site. Ben's Hide-Away is the result.

Ben's Hide-Away consists of three treehouse cabins build in a "Camping Cabin" style. They have heat, A/C, refrigerator, microwave and flat screen TV's. Each cabin sleeps up to five and we allow tents on the site at no additional charge. The site has a central restroom and an out door kitchen. Other features include a covered picnic table area, a fire pit and barbecue/smoker.

We were completing the final touches on Ben's Hide-Away on June 2, 2015, exactly one year after we purchased the camp. Guests arrive tomorrow, June 3rd.

We have had more fun than anyone should be allowed to have. Our friendship with our partners has grown. We are living a small piece of our dreams of providing a memorable experience for our guests. We are planning more treehouses, more fun, such as zip lines and Pirate Ships in the trees. Water canons and.........................Well,    You will just have to keep up as best you can!

Come and visit us when you can and "Sleep in the Trees!

Snow Delay

A snow delay is kind of like a rain delay at the treehouse site. The only difference is that after it quits snowing, you still don't want to go out and work! Today, the temperature will top out at 26 and then bottom out at 4!........4!!.........Who wants to get out and work when it's that cold. Oh wait. That's at night! Okay, who wants to get out and work at 26? I think we will wait.

Never fear though. Our plans are still on track for the completion of the group treehouse site! Debby and Shannon got together the other day and decided that our group site will officially be our "Glamping" site! Glamping is the term used to describe "Glamerous Camping" I suppose that is the perfect description since much of this site will be similar to camping, yet with amenities not normally associated with just camping!

The cabins will have beds, heat and A/C, flat screen TV's with cable, microwaves and refrigerators, front decks, back decks and will be beautifully furnished on the inside. Outside will be a covered picnic table area, private fire ring, modern restroom and outdoor kitchen.

We will be allowing guests here to set up tents for even more sleeping capacity. It is only a few steps away from swimming, the playground, the gift shop, showers and laundry area. It is really about the best site in camp! It will certainly be the most FUN!

For now, the whole thing is covered in SNOW. Who ordered that? Anyway, by Memorial Day weekend we plan on having this site complete. We are taking up to 10 advance reservations on this site for $175 per night for the entire 4 cabin site! (did I mention that all cabins are up among the trees, but ONE OF THEM will actually be built IN a tree!) How cool is that!

If you want to be among the first to reserve your party on this site, Call our office at 417-338-2500. They will get you fixed up for a "Glamping" experience you'll never forget!
